XRecommend Sandbox

Prev Next

XRecommend Sandbox allows you to simulate the response of a DeepRec Model through a specific element and locale.

Prerequisite

Experiences and XRecommend Engines must be created before they can be tested in the sandbox.

Event Composer

The event composer allows you to create an event sequence that mimics a customer’s journey. Choose from different types of events to create a sequence that informs the recommendation output. Unlike XSearch, all of the inferencing for XRecommend is happening in real-time, based on customer’s actions on your site.

Event Types

Product View

When a customer views a product details page, it signals interest and provides valuable insights into product popularity, helping refine recommendations and optimize merchandising strategies across the entire catalog and customer base.

Add To Cart

Adding a product to the cart indicates a strong purchase intent and allows the system to trigger upsell or cross-sell recommendations, depending on your settings.

Product Purchase

A completed purchase confirms successful conversion and provides critical data for future product recommendations. Although a product may not be likely to be purchased again, in certain brand contexts, your model will take this into account and tailor product suggestions accordingly.

Search Products

To populate your unique customer journey, use the Search bar to input product codes or search terms. Once you select one or multiple products, items can be re-arranged to test outcomes.

Testing Your Recommendation Engine

Once you have composed your event sequence, click the “Test Engine” button in the right corner of your Event Composer.

Your recommendations will be populated above the composer tray in a feed format. Each response will have the locale, element name, time, and the event sequence listed. The recommendation carousel will appear below this information for you to click on and scroll through.

FAQ

How can I recreate a user’s journey?

Try putting each event available into a single sequence. For example, to create a traditional conversion funnel: Product View [Select Product] > Click the Add Event To Sequence button > Add to Cart [Select Product(s)] > Click the Add Event To Sequence button > Product Purchase [Select Product(s)]

What types of events can I include in my customer journey simulation?

You can include events such as Product View, Add To Cart, and Product Purchase to simulate a customer's journey. While other events are used in our algorithms and to train our AI models, they are unavailable for use in the sandbox at this time.

What happens after I click “Test Engine” engine?

After clicking “Test Engine”, your recommendation response will be displayed in a feed-style format above the composer tray, showing details like locale and event sequence.

Is it possible to rearrange products after searching for them?

Yes, once you select products using the search bar within an event block, you can rearrange them to test different outcomes.

Do I need to create experiences before using the XRecommend Sandbox?

Yes, three things must be completed before you can use the sandbox: a Model needs to be trained on your catalog data, an Engine needs to be created to direct that models outputs, and an Experience needs to be created to combine AI and merchandising logic.
